who we are

Banana Slug Books is an indie publisher located in Spokane, Washington, run by a small team of editors, designers, creatives, and most importantly, writers. Our collective creative practice consists of messages in the Super Slugs chat, banana milk lattes around the kitchen counter, and countless hours dedicated to giving each story the love and attention it deserves. We are proud to publish a variety of voices, established and emerging, and we look forward to where the future will take us.

history

Banana Slug Books was formed after a generous SAGA grant from Spokane Arts to produce our first anthology, Spokane Campfire Stories. Inspired by the legacy of indie publishing in Spokane, the Banana Slug crew was able to learn from experts in the field and the broader literary and arts communities. We are thankful to our creative partners, the Eastern Washington University MFA program, the Hive, Pivot, Spokane Public Radio, and more, who have been by our side for the journey.
